Just an update!

Since the last post, Ryan and I had a wonderful trip back home! We were unable to see some people we wanted and do something we wanted to do because of time constraints, but we were able to visit with family and enjoy time before Little Bit arrives! Our first big event was the Baby Shower that went off without a hitch! Thank you again for everyone who came, it was so nice to visit with LOTS of family and friends! We all now know Little Bit is well loved! :) The rest of the trip was spent driving to see friends in Broomfield, dinners out with family and tons of wonderful conversations! 

Since Ryan's car was still in Colorado (because I was using it when I was still living there) we had long drive back to South Carolina! We LOADED the car the night before and left bright and early at 5am on Thursday! My sister Tracy hitched a ride with us to St. Louis where we stayed at her place to enjoy some more sightseeing! The first day was long, but it was nice to enjoy more time with my sister and made the trip seem shorter. We decided to make it to St. Louis, stay the night and sightsee the next day; it makes the trip longer, but it helps break up the driving time!  In St. Louis there is a museum which is like an adult McDonald's play-place made with recycled items that Ryan was dying to go to! We had a blast crawling around the museum and sliding down slides.  Of course I wasn't able to get into the tight spaces he was able to go into, we both had tons of fun! We also went to the Science Center and enjoyed meals at some local breweries.  

The next day we left St. Louis at about 5am so we were able to make it home at a decent hour. Again another uneventful trip with many stops for me to get out and move! Like I always say... if your marriage can make it through a two day road trip, it can make it through anything! :) Once we got home we headed over to relieve our friends of the Kingster! He was so excited to see us, but very sad to leave his friend Lucy! He thoroughly enjoyed his stay at the McGoldrick's house! :)

After our trip, nothing new has happened.  We are just continuing to get ready for Little Bit to arrive! We had lots of things to go through and organize after the shower, so that is where I have been spending most of my time! Ryan and I are just about done with the room... I know it has been a long process! :) But it will be worth it!

Step Two! :)

Step Two was adding a little decoration to the plain white walls! :) 

First - I drew the image onto the wall. (I think I went through an entire eraser!)

Second - THE PAINT!! :) 

Yes, yes... that is BLACK paint! 

(Ryan is really good at staying in the lines!!)

These are the curtains I made! :) They aren't quite done yet, I still have some more fabric I need to get!

Third - Make the tree not look scary!! Adding the leaves!

Now that we have painted a tree on one wall, now it is time to have fun with another...

New Paint!!

We are tackling Little Bit's room one step at a time; first... get rid of the beige flat paint!!

Step 1-
     Prep for paint.  Mask the trim, cover the floors and bed, remove the outlet covers

     Get Daddy to paint the walls, all while Mommy paces wanting to help!

 YAY!!!

Step 3-
     Wait while the first coat dries!

Step 4-
     Paint the second coat! (King wasn't too excited about being locked out of the room either!)

Step 5-
     Remove all the blue tape! Viola!

I know boring right now... but just wait!! Next step... STRIPES and maybe something else, guess you will have to wait and see! :)

The Baby Room Transformation Begins!

Mommy has waited looonngg enough! (A lot longer than she wanted to...) The baby room is now in the first stages of transformation.  Ryan and I picked out the fabric at a local fabric store for the bedding and curtains.  Since Little Bit's gender is still a mystery, we decided to go with a black and white theme, but we added in a little lime green for a 'pop' of color.  After Little Bit arrives we will then add in hot pink or blue for some gender specific accents! :)




This fabric will be part of the curtains for the windows and also the crib skirt.  (Speaking of that... I really should invest in a sewing machine!)  The paint we have selected will be used for some stripes painted on one wall! :)

Little Bit's First Pictures!

     Since I haven't updated the blog in a month or so, I thought I should post some awesome pictures so you will continue to read about what is going on in the Winter Household! :)


     Ryan had a few days where he had to work 8pm to 4am due to Night Flying. He kinda enjoyed the hours, but hated the fact that he would eat 4 meals a day! But now he is back on swing shift, working 4pm to 12am.  This works out great for both of us, because he is able to go to all my doctor's appointments.  He is starting to get really excited about the baby and was so excited to pull 'little things' out of the dryer the other day! 


     Me, well I have been hanging with my two boys, waiting for this baby to arrive.  I am starting to feel strong kicks from the baby throughout the day. The doctor even said that this baby is an active one! I can only imagine what they are going to feel like in a few months! Although nothing is ready for Little Bit's arrival, I have been mentally planning the room.  We have the fabric for the bed skirt and an overall idea as to what the room is going to look like. 


     My first doctor's appointment out here in South Carolina went well.  Dr. Anderson said that I was overdue for an ultrasound, so she scheduled one for the following day.  Ryan and I were so excited that we were going to finally see the baby and not just hear the heartbeat (although that is a wonderful sound to our ears!).  Little Bit was moving all over the place, so it took the ultrasound tech a few more minutes of searching for the measurements she was looking for.  But she was able to snap a few pictures in the process! :)

We're Walking On Sunshine!

Today was my second doctors appointment! I knew we would hear the heartbeat for the first time, so I brought my mom and my sister-in-law Sabrina with me! We walked in to the doctors office like it was going to be a girls day out to the spa, we had our Starbucks in hand, giggling and having a good time! We got back to the room and we went through the usual check-up stuff, pee in the cup, blood pressure, weight, height, more questions. When the nurse left and said the doctor would be back, I was getting nervous, not because of the upcoming pap smear, but because we were going to hear the heartbeat!! 

The doctor finally came in and told us that because I am not that far along, we may not be able to hear the heartbeat with her dopplex and she might have to break out the ultrasound machine; but I got Ryan on the phone just in case she could find it.  We were able to find it just for a split second, but she lost it.  I wanted to hear it longer so I was hoping she wouldn't give up... but she was able to find it again so Ryan could hear it too!! Thanks to my mom... she was able to video tape the whole thing so EVERYONE can hear the heartbeat! :) Enjoy!!!
