We're Walking On Sunshine!

Today was my second doctors appointment! I knew we would hear the heartbeat for the first time, so I brought my mom and my sister-in-law Sabrina with me! We walked in to the doctors office like it was going to be a girls day out to the spa, we had our Starbucks in hand, giggling and having a good time! We got back to the room and we went through the usual check-up stuff, pee in the cup, blood pressure, weight, height, more questions. When the nurse left and said the doctor would be back, I was getting nervous, not because of the upcoming pap smear, but because we were going to hear the heartbeat!!

The doctor finally came in and told us that because I am not that far along, we may not be able to hear the heartbeat with her dopplex and she might have to break out the ultrasound machine; but I got Ryan on the phone just in case she could find it.  We were able to find it just for a split second, but she lost it.  I wanted to hear it longer so I was hoping she wouldn't give up... but she was able to find it again so Ryan could hear it too!! Thanks to my mom... she was able to video tape the whole thing so EVERYONE can hear the heartbeat! :) Enjoy!!!

First Doctors Appointment! :)

So far this pregnancy has been suuuupppeerr easy compared to others! When Janel was pregnant with Brinley, she had to carry a cup around because she would get sick so often.  But with me, I haven't had any nausea.  I only get nauseous when I haven't eaten! So needless to say, I have been worried because I am not having the pregnancy I hear about.

So I finally had my first doctors appointment today!! I woke up, and it was snowing... great!! I was getting ready and left the house a little after I was planning on leaving.  And of course everyone doesn't know how to drive in the snow... So I was a little late :/  I go in, sign some papers and wait to be called.  When they call me I go back, get weighed, and my temp is taken.  I have to pee in a cup... AGAIN! Luckily I had something to give her! When I get back to the room they ask the normal questions... when was your last cycle, height, any allergies, any medications I have been taking.. the works! Then the nurse comes in and talks to me about the flu shot... yeah yeah yeah I heard it all already! I have never had a flu shot, and never had the flu (knock on wood!!) so I don't see it is necessary.  But pregnant women are at risk.. yada yada yada. She goes through the genetic testing and what it tests for.  Of course none of that is of interest to me.  Then the LOOONNNGGG list of questions come....

how many pregnancies have you had?
any miscarriages?
last period?
28 day cycle?
normal periods?
birth control?
tuberculosis?
diabetes?
heart condition?
hepatitis B?
history of genetic birth defects?
feeling threatened or harmed in any way?
father of the same race?
miscarriages?
drug use?
smoking?
alcohol use?

Of course I am healthy person so I answered "no" to most of those questions! I talked to her about how I was worried about the health of the baby since I don't "feel pregnant." And she said there is nothing to worry about because I am so healthy, but it still worries me!! She told me at my next visit I will get to hear the heartbeat!! I can't wait! That will really be what makes it real for me! :) I will keep you posted!!

Our family grows by one!

Ryan and I found out we will be expecting our first child in June of 2011!! No, this is not a surprise baby... it was kinda planned! We decided to start trying since we heard it take a long time to get pregnant.  But, on the first try... we did it! Ryan's explanation for the speedy conception is... "I am damn good!" But what I don't think he understands is... it take two! Either way, we are SUPER excited to start our family! Ryan was going to start moving furniture so we can start on the baby room, but I had to remind him that grandma and grandpa were coming for Thanksgiving! So we needed to keep the guest room as it is, until after the holidays! But he is one happy daddy!!
Since I am due in June, I will be able to finish my schooling to graduate in April! I am finishing up student teaching next week and will continue classes until the end of April.  Ryan is doing awesome! He is finishing up his CDC's.  These are books that he has to complete for his job training.  So far he is loving where he is, and what he is doing.  October 4th he switched from day hours to swing hours, so now he is working 4pm-midnight.  Although the hours are odd, he is enjoying being able to spend time at home during the day (and not to mention sleeping in....)

Well I just had to update you on all the happenings in the Winter household!! I will keep you posted!! :)
